Open call for submissions for a photography exhibition
‘TOGETHER’
That which binds us – images of family
Image by Vanessa Graham: Play day 2009
Submit a photographic image that represents love, family or unbreakable ties to you. It can be part of your body of work if you are a photographer or artist, but it can also be a family snapshot that you hold very dear due to the above meanings inherent in the photograph. It may be an image of people but could also be an abstract image or images of animals or objects. .It does not have to feature YOUR family – the brief is open to your interpretation: The meaning of family will be different to different people and that is what we are looking to explore as well, how people see themselves in their ideas of family. This exhibition is open to everyone, not just photographers or artists. A panel of professional art curators from Auckland will select the images from the submissions. 40 Images will be selected for the exhibition. All selected images will be printed uniformly on Traditional Silver Halide photography paper (matt with a slight lustre) in either colour or black/white. The contributor will keep the printed work when the exhibition is complete and retains full ownership over the work. In the exhibition we will allow for the public to vote for their favourite and provide comments. There is no prizes or judges criteria in this exhibition – the images that best communicate the message ‘that which binds us’ will be selected. Things to consider: How to submit your initial entry- we need a small Jpeg only (email or submit on CD) SEE THE INFORMATION IN THE ENTRY FORM INFORMATION. How to submit your image if you are selected – It will need to be print ready. SEE THE INFORMATION IN THE ENTRY FORM INFORMATION for the specifications. The images will be all be printed in A0 (101cm x 76cm) size so your work must be able to be represented in a large format. The image will all be printed on lustre paper (semi gloss) for uniformity so the image may also not be reliant on specialised textured or specialised paper. Coming 2012:
Creative Communities Scheme
For application details please click on link below
The Creative Communities Scheme supports and encourages local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities. Under the scheme, 'the arts' are broadly defined as 'all forms of creative and interpretative expression'. This includes opportunities for creative participation in theatre, music, visual arts, digital art, applied arts, arts education, Toi Maori, literary workshops, digital storytelling, and many other activities. In 2010, Creative New Zealand revised some of the criteria and assessment of the Creative Communities Scheme. If you have applied to the Creative Communities Scheme in the past you will notice some changes. Across Auckland, funding is broken into geographical areas (North, West, Central, South and Auckland-wide). Local rounds - for projects that primarily engage participant and audiences in one of the four areas: North, West, Central and South. Local rounds are available in August and February. The Auckland-wide round - for projects across two or more geographical areas eg a music workshop that happens in Flat Bush, Avondale and Muriwai. Auckland-wide round is available in August only.
